The Claw

Builder: Bruce Romeo
Robotic hand that repeats movement of the person's hand in the glove.

Mythbusters was the inspiration for this hand. Jamie made a mechanical hand to catch an arrow, and I tried to copy his work. All I had was a copy of the show, so there were a few important things I learned during the build. Each finger is moved by an individual servo, and I used the brains of Disco Boy with an OOPic as the controller to read the Trossen Robotics flex sensors and drive the servos. I'm still working on the software since I'm learning how to use the OOPic math objects to get the desired movement.

Close up picture of the glove. The flex sensors are taped in place, and I used a hot glue gun to tack down the places where I could not get the tape all the way around.
